Drywall Spacer Nailed to Stair Stringer

Most carpenters who frame houses know what a drywall spacer is, but for those of you who don't, it's time for a lesson in house framing.

If you're not going to install a skirt board which is another item that can run the length of the stairway bottom, simply add a 3/4" piece of scrap building materials onto the side of the stair stringer that's going to go up against a wall that's going to get drywalled.

Things like these save drywaller's a lot of trouble. If this drywall spacer wasn't installed correctly, the drywaller would need to individually cut around each stair step and this is an extremely difficult task for anyone.
