I went to give you a close-up to see what
the stairway stringer looks like when it's connected to the upper floor.
Not only did I want to give you a close-up, I wanted to point out some
of the cracks in the 2 x 14 stair stringer.
There are going to be times when you're nailing your stair stringer's
into place and one of the tips is going to crack right off of the stair
stringer. To fix this, simply nail the stair stringer tip back on to the
stair stringer, if possible.
If you notice there aren't any large gaps between the stair stringer and
the floor joist or stair headout. If there were any gaps at the top or
bottom, where the stair stringer actually connects to the floor joist,
you could have a problem with your stair's.
If you notice any gaps larger than a quarter of an inch, check your
stair treads to verify that their level.
